Prescription Savings for Your Pets is Simple!

Many medications prescribed for your pets have equivalents that are available at your local retail pharmacy. Just ask your veterinarian to write your pet’s prescription for the human equivalent. Then fill the prescription at your favorite participating pharmacy using your card. It’s that simple.

Save on pet medications such as antibiotics, arthritis and pain medications, ear and eye medications, thyroid medications, and more.

  • According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association’s 2005-2006 National Pet Owners Survey:
  • 52% of dogs and 24% of cats are given medications regularly by their owners,
  • 47,060,000 dogs and 17,736,000 cats are receiving one or more scripts in the U.S. and
  • birds, fish, reptiles and small mammals are also receiving medications in this country.
    • Many medications prescribed for pets can be filled at a retail pharmacy – these medications are eligible for savings with the Program.

There is no paperwork to complete and no enrollment or monthly fees. Simply present your pharmacy card along with an eligible prescription at a participating retail pharmacy location to start saving – it’s that simple!

Q. Can I get my pets’ prescriptions filled at the same pharmacy I get my own prescriptions filled?

A. Many medications prescribed for pets are the same medications that are prescribed for humans and can legally be filled at your local retail pharmacy. These medications are available for savings with the pharmacy program.

Q. Can all of my pets’ medications be filled at a retail pharmacy?

A. Not all medications can be filled at a retail pharmacy, but many medications such as antibiotics, thyroid medications, arthritis and pain medications, ear and eye medications can. Prescriptions for these medications must be written by a licensed veterinarian. Contact your local pharmacy to see if they carry your pets’ medications.

Q. How much can I expect to pay for my pets’ medications?

A. The pharmacy program provides discounts on all brand name and generic prescriptions available at a participating retail pharmacy location. Savings average 28% with potential savings of up to 50% (based on 2009 national program savings data).
